Our Mission
Hermosa United is a community organization whose ultimate goal is to bring hope to our neighbors, not only in our community but throughout our great city of Chicago, by impacting one life at a time.
How? By developing a referral system within our community. This system will include assistance with resumes, job training resources, trade school referrals, financial literacy workshops (savings, budgeting, etc.), and more!

Who's Behind This
Jose Nieves
Jose was born and raised on the Northwest Side of Chicago and has lived in the Hermosa community for over 25 years. He and his wife, Marisol, have raised their five children in the Hermosa community. As a young man, Jose was saved from the streets of Chicago on February 16, 1996. On that day, he came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Jose then felt called by God to return to some of the toughest neighborhoods on the Northwest Side to pray for young people who were still on the streets, including those who had once been considered his opposition. Jose has been involved in community outreach and youth mentorship since 1998. He continues to serve Chicago's homeless community and is passionate about helping people find second chances. He believes that the Lord has not given up on us, so we should not give up on ourselves. Jose believes that UNITED, we can make something great happen!
Our Approach
Community Events
To successfully accomplish these goals, we intend to empower brick-and-mortar community organizations to host and facilitate networking opportunities.
Responsible Stewardship
Through these networking events, we hope to foster relationships that result in genuine, secure connections, promote individual growth, and strengthen organizations throughout the Hermosa community.
Thoughtful Dialogue
Through our efforts, we seek to discover, recognize, and support the gifts and talents of our neighbors. UNITED, we can grow stronger and create lasting change in our community, hopefully inspiring and partnering with neighboring communities to make a positive impact throughout our beautiful city of Chicago!
